Nuclear ground-state properties from mean-field calculations

چکیده
The volume and surface effects in the nuclear local energy density and the volume and surface components of the pairing interaction are discussed in the context of the mean-field, Hartree-FockBogoliubov description of atomic nuclei. Predictions of properties of exotic nuclei close to the particle drip lines are presented. PACS. 21.60.Jz Hartree-Fock and random-phase approximations – 21.10.Dr Binding energies and masses

Mean Field Studies of Exotic Nuclei
Full three dimensional static and dynamic mean field calculations using collocation basis splines with a Skyrme type Hamiltonian are described. This program is developed to address the difficult theoretical challenges offered by exotic nuclei. Ground state and deformation properties are calculated using static HartreeFock, Hartree-Fock+BCS and constrained Hartree-Fock models. Collective propert...
متن کاملTowards Density Functional Calculations from Nuclear Forces
We propose a method for microscopic calculations of nuclear groundstate properties in the framework of density functional theory (DFT). We discuss how the density functional is equivalent to the effective action for the density, thereby establishing a constructive framework for DFT calculations from nuclear forces. The presented approach starts from non-interacting nucleons in a background pote...
متن کاملSystematics of collective correlation energies from self-consistent mean-field calculations
The collective ground-state correlations stemming from low-lying quadrupole excitations are computed microscopically. To that end, the self-consistent mean-field model is employed on the basis of the Skyrme-Hartre-Fock (SHF) functional augmented by BCS pairing. The microscopic-macroscopic mapping is achieved by quadrupole-constrained mean-field calculations which are processed further in the ge...

The symmetric and asymmetric fission path for Pu, Th, and Ra is investigated within the relativistic mean–field model. Standard parametrizations which are well fitted to nuclear ground state properties are found to deliver reasonable qualitative and quantitative features of fission, comparable to similar nonrelativstic calculations. Furthermore, stable octupole deformations in the ground states...

Nuclear binding energies and two-neutron separation energies are analyzed starting from the liquid-drop model and the nuclear shell model in order to describe the global trends of the above observables. We subsequently concentrate on the Interacting Boson Model (IBM) and discuss a new method in order to provide a consistent description of both, ground-state and excited-state properties. We addr...
